This publication surveys the artist’s oeuvre, from his training and the emergence of his methods to the studies made for his monumental canvases. This volume demonstrates his tremendous achievement as a draftsman and his influence on 20th-century art.

We wanted to give this classic art-historical book a contemporary design. The unusually high-quality uncoated paper stock brings out the best in Seurat’s drawings. One aspect of note was our zooming in to pick out details of the drawings, just as a museum visitor examines a work up close. Luckily, this idea was embraced by curator Jodi Hauptmann.
