Rietveld in Utrecht
architecture guide
concept development, book design
Dutch architecture and furniture designer Gerrit Rietveld, widely recognized as a central figure of 20th-century architecture, built a number of works in his home city of Utrecht, including the world-famous Rietveld-Schröder House.
For the Centraal Museum in Utrecht, which houses the Gerrit Rietveld archive, we designed a city guide that documents all the architect’s buildings in the city. The guidebook is aimed at a general audience. We divided the guidebook into white and red sections: English text in white on a red background and Dutch text in black. Each design is concisely described and illustrated with one or more black-and-white photos. The book format is based on the proportions of a Rietveld building.
