Tschumi on Architecture: Conversations with Enrique Walker
book
concept, book design, production
Bernard Tschumi is an influential figure in architectural theory and practice. In 2006 he represented Switzerland at the Venice Architecture Biennale.
The accompanying catalogue presents, in a sequence of ‘conversations’, his autobiography in architecture, from his conceptual projects of the early 1970s to his major buildings and projects. The conversations, drawn from a series of interviews with critic Enrique Walker, explore Tschumi’s writings, buildings, and other works.
We pixelated snapshots of Tschumi and Walker’s interview to create images composed of variously sized dots. These images were then used as chapter dividers, opening pages and cover image. The book appeared in three editions, in Tschumi’s favourite colours: yellow (Italian/English), red (French/English), and orange (German/English).
