Marilyn Minter
monograph
concept, book design, production
This hugely successful publication features work from every period of a career that spans over forty years, and reproduces nearly every painting Marilyn Minter has made, along with a selection of her painterly photographs of recent years.
A substantial essay by Johanna Burton, a conversation between Minter and painter Mary Heilmann, and contributions by a host of artists, curators and friends accompany the work. This monograph consolidates Minter’s central position in contemporary art.
Our task here was to define the editorial structure for the monograph. We came up with different solutions for different chapters, including five paper stocks and a toolbox of graphic devices for the editorial content. All these disparate elements blend together to form a coherent whole.
