Hyperlinks: Architecture and Design
book and exhibition graphics
visual identity, exhibition graphics, concept and book design, invitation, production
After building a new wing dedicated to architecture and design, the Art Institute of Chicago mounted an inaugural exhibition entitled Hyperlinks: Architecture and Design. The show reflected the current merging of creative professions, in which architects become designers and vice versa, and focused on the so-called hyperlinks that connect these professions.
We were asked to create a visual identity for the exhibition and to design the accompanying catalogue. An exhibition showcasing experimental architecture and graphic and industrial design necessarily demanded a cutting-edge catalogue. We met the challenge with a book whose content changes depending on the direction it is read: front-to-back or back-to-front. The tactile book merges product and graphic design, reflecting the unity of architecture and design in the exhibition.
