Fred Tomaselli’s art critiques utopias and dystopias, and examines the sublime in suburban American culture. He uses pharmaceuticals and illicit drugs to create elaborate, colorful paintings. This survey of his career includes an essay by American novelist Rick Moody.
design Our book is like a sandwich, with a blue section of essays at the front, a green section of backmatter at the back, and a white section of plates in the middle. The XXL dust jacket features a “harmonica” fold in front and back to show a life-size detail of one of his works: Echo Wow and Flutter.
client Palm Beach Institute of Contemporary Art, Florida. The PBICA was a venue for major national and international art in all media and a meeting ground for the diverse populations who live in and visit the Palm Beach region.
